Castelli's Restaurant | Piasa: Enjoying Italian Cuisine in a Classic Setting

Introduction

Hello, food lovers! Welcome back to Muscle's Culinary Quest. Today, I’m excited to share my recent visit to Castelli's Restaurant, a charming spot in the Piasa area of Addis Ababa. Having moved from the Bole area to Piasa, I decided to walk from my hotel to this classic Italian restaurant.

Location and Ambiance

Castelli's Restaurant is located in Piasa. Although its exterior is unassuming, once inside, you are greeted by a charming and classic ambiance. The restaurant's old-world charm, complete with high ceilings, antique furniture, and warm lighting, creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It feels like stepping into a vintage European restaurant, offering a perfect setting for a relaxed meal.

What I Ate

During my visit, I ordered Penne Arrabbiata, Crème Caramel, and an Espresso Coffee:

  • Penne Arrabbiata: This dish comes with a side of baguette. The penne was perfectly al dente, and the sauce was a delightful blend of tangy tomatoes and spicy green chilies. The garlic flavor was subtle, allowing the natural flavors of the tomatoes and chilies to shine. The sauce on the baguette with a sprinkle of salt made for an extra tasty treat. This dish is simple yet highlights the quality of its ingredients.

  • Crème Caramel: Although listed as "Crème Caramel" on the menu, this dessert is essentially a high-quality pudding topped with caramel sauce. It was rich and creamy, yet light enough to enjoy after a meal. The caramel sauce added a perfect touch of sweetness and slight bitterness, balancing the dessert beautifully. It was so good that I was tempted to order another one.

  • Espresso Coffee: The espresso was strong and had a pronounced acidity, making it a robust finish to my meal. It complemented the rich flavors of the dessert and was a great way to end the dining experience.

Staff and Service

The staff member who served me was a friendly gentleman in his 60s, adding a touch of warmth and humor to the meal. He was attentive and helpful, and his recommendations were spot on. The service was prompt and courteous, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Conclusion

Dining at Castelli's Restaurant was a delightful experience, offering a taste of authentic Italian cuisine in a classic and elegant setting. The Penne Arrabbiata's perfect blend of tomato and chili flavors and the Crème Caramel's rich yet light texture were particularly memorable. The friendly staff and charming ambiance make this a restaurant worth revisiting.
