Cafe du Louvre: A Refined French Dining Experience in Addis Ababa
Introduction
Hello, food lovers! Welcome back to Muscle's Culinary Quest. Today, I’m excited to share my dining experience at Cafe du Louvre, a charming French restaurant located just a 15-minute drive from the city center of Addis Ababa. This restaurant is part of a hotel, offering a seamless blend of accommodation and dining.
Location and Ambiance
Cafe du Louvre is situated in a prime location, making it easily accessible from the city center. The restaurant and hotel are beautifully integrated, providing a seamless experience for guests. The interior is elegantly designed, with attention to detail evident in every aspect. The covered terrace seating is particularly noteworthy, offering a charming and refined atmosphere for diners. Out of all the restaurants I've visited so far, Cafe du Louvre has the most meticulously crafted decor, making it a standout choice for a special dining experience.
What I Ate
During my visit, I tried the following dishes:
Beef Carpaccio: The raw beef had no unpleasant smell and was topped with finely grated cheese, making it incredibly delicious. The freshness of the beef was evident, making this an excellent appetizer.
Onion Soup: This soup was rich and flavorful. When paired with the accompanying baguette, it became even more delightful. The combination of the soup's depth and the crispiness of the baguette was perfect.
Steak: The steak was chewy and full of flavor. It came with a choice of either French fries or mashed potatoes; I opted for the French fries. The sauce was particularly noteworthy, being rich and enhancing the overall taste of the steak and potatoes.
Desserts
- Banana Crepe: This was the first time I encountered crepes in Ethiopia. The banana crepe was drizzled with chocolate sauce and had a firmer texture, which was quite pleasant.
- Crème Caramel: Although labeled as "crème caramel" on the menu, this dessert was essentially a large and not overly sweet pudding, making it a satisfying end to the meal.
- Banana Crepe: This was the first time I encountered crepes in Ethiopia. The banana crepe was drizzled with chocolate sauce and had a firmer texture, which was quite pleasant.
My Recommendation
Of all the dishes I tried, I particularly recommend the Beef Carpaccio and the Steak. The freshness of the carpaccio and the robust flavor of the steak, paired with the exceptional sauce, made these dishes stand out.
Staff and Service
The staff at Cafe du Louvre were professional and attentive. They were knowledgeable about the menu and provided friendly and courteous service. Their warm and respectful approach greatly enhanced the overall dining experience.
Conclusion
Cafe du Louvre is the perfect place to enjoy refined French dining in Addis Ababa. From the beautifully designed interior to the high-quality French cuisine, every detail is meticulously crafted. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to enjoy an elegant meal, Cafe du Louvre is an excellent choice.
