The Oriental: A Delightful Dining Experience at Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa

Hello, food lovers! Welcome back to Muscle's Culinary Quest. Today, I’m excited to share my dining experience at The Oriental, a beautiful restaurant located on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa. Conveniently situated just a 15-minute drive from the airport, this restaurant provided a perfect setting for our business dinner, offering a wonderful time.

Location and Ambiance

The Oriental is located in the heart of Bole, on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and boasts a modern, elegant ambiance. The sophisticated decor, ambient lighting, and luxurious settings create a perfect atmosphere for both large gatherings and intimate dinners. Private rooms are also available for those seeking a more secluded dining experience.

What I Ate

During my visit, I had the pleasure of trying several delicious dishes:

  • Yakitori: Juicy, perfectly-sized pieces of grilled chicken skewers. The seasoning was just right, highlighting the natural flavors of the meat.


  • Fried Squid: Light and crispy, these squid rings were easy to eat and made for a delightful snack. The texture was perfect, with a nice crunch.


  • Chicken Steak: A large and juicy chicken steak that was highly satisfying. The meat was tender and flavorful, offering a great dining experience.


  • Beef Stew: This dish featured tender beef in a well-balanced stew that paired excellently with rice. The flavor was slightly sweet, making it unique and enjoyable.


  • Garlic Broccoli Sauté: Simple yet delicious, this dish consisted of large pieces of broccoli sautéed with garlic. The seasoning was perfect, making the broccoli juicy and flavorful.


My Recommendation

Among the dishes I tried, the Chicken Steak and the Beef Stew stood out the most. The Chicken Steak was particularly impressive due to its size and juiciness, while the Beef Stew's slightly sweet flavor was a pleasant surprise that paired perfectly with rice.

Staff and Service

The staff at The Oriental were exceptionally professional, friendly, and attentive. Their quick and courteous service ensured that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. Their knowledgeable explanations of the menu and helpful recommendations added to the overall positive experience.
